History Majors Win Awards for Outstanding Honors Thesis

Two of this years' Department of History Honors students have been awarded the Winston Family Papers Awards for OutstandingThesis from the UMD Honors College. Holland Schmitz was awarded the prize of her thesis, "Shaping the Sapphic City: New York City Lesbianism and Lesbian Pulp Novels 1945-1968," thesis advisor Rob Chiles. James Schmidtlein won the award for his thesis, "Christians in a Pagan World: Understanding the Construction of Early Christian Identity from a Pagan Past and Custom," thesis advisor Jeremy Simmons. Holland's and James's success will be recognized at the Honors College Citation Ceremony on April 25, 2025. They together with their faculty advisors - Rob Chiles and Jeremy Simmons have been invited to attend.
